Lumut, Mukim Liang
The first-ever National Family Day was celebrated today in all four districts throughout Brunei Darussalam.
The objectives of the National Family Day, amongst others, were to foster family unity by allowing them to spend quality time together through the arrangement of collaborative programmes and activities and to highlight to the future generation on the importance of the family institution.
Present to officiate the event at the Zone Three at Lumut Recreational Beach of Mukim Liang was the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, the Honourable Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Haji Bakar.
The National Family Day celebration at Lumut Recreatonal Beach of Mukim Liang began with an aerobic session, followed by a walkathon, where the Minister led a group of organisers, parents and children for a stroll along the white, sandy beach of Lumut.
Amongst the activities held were a family telematch, a cooking competition, a cleaning up campaign along the shorelines of Lumut and a lucky draw.
The inaugural National Family Day celebration carried the theme “My Family, My Hope”.
